Jerldean Newton Vaughn, age 71, of Hampshire, Tennessee passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016.
Jerldean was born on November 13, 1944 to the late Ernest and Laura Mae Hood Newton in the Minor Hill community of Giles County, Tennessee. She married Ray “Catfish” Vaughn on March 25, 1964 and they had 51 years together, building a home and family. She was a furnace operator at Occidental Chemical for 13 years and also worked at Weather Tamer for a time.
Jerldean was a loving woman who put her family first. She especially loved her grandkids. Her love for all her family was unconditional and she loved spending time talking with them. She also loved to cook for her family and friends and was known for making the best biscuits. For hobbies, she enjoyed fishing and dancing. She also loved roses. Jerldean had a wonderful sense of humor and loved laughing and joking with her family. Combining two of her favorite things, joking and roses; one year Jerldean had a rosebush that had failed to bloom for several seasons, so she clipped artificial roses onto the bush. She got such a kick out of it when her children excitedly told her that the rosebush had finally bloomed. That kind of humor and happiness is priceless and the memory of it will last forever.
Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her husband: Ray “Catfish” Vaughn of Mt. Pleasant; children: Dennis Ray (Renee) Vaughn and Keith (Susan) Vaughn both of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Luke Vaughn, Brilee Vaughn and Sandy Shrader; great-grandchildren: Addison, Haley and Matthew Shrader; and siblings: Donna Jean Good and Billy Ray Nash.
