Born one day when he was young, in a small town in Ohio and growing up in West-By-God-Virginia, The Legendary Jeffrey Zack Thompson was reunited with that of which we're made—pure love—on Wednesday, November 9th at around 6:30 pm.
He was at peace with that which created him, and was ready to take the next step of his journey. He did so with dignity, strength, and grace, despite the immense pain his body endured.
With a smile on his face, his final words were, "I sure love y'all," before drifting off honorably while listening to some of his favorite music, seated in his favorite chair, and covered in a blanket handmade as a gift for him by his wife—certainly a special moment for her and their kids, who were blessed to be surrounding him as he finally received comfort.
An epic and storied man, no doubt, and one of the greatest, kindest, most generous, and selfless men to have walked the planet, the extinguishing of his flame will be felt by all who knew him and even those who never got the joy of meeting this absolute unit of a human being.
But while his candle has blown out
(as has his mother Anna's, his sister Ellen's, and that of his son Brad "The Bishop's"), his fire lives on in his family who survives him: his wife Pam, his son (and favorite child) Slim and his wife Laura, his daughters Kelsey and Haley, and their husbands Mauricio and Will (or "Ritzy" and "Wilbur" as our family calls them), his granddaughter Ella Grace, his grandsons Avett Lee Rocket and Kellan Giovanni, his father Alton and his wife Joyce, his brother Mike, and many other family members blood, adopted, or otherwise, all of whom will be Mighty Fine.
We're ALL gonna be Mighty Fine.
