Mrs. Jean Thurman Woodard, age 79, a resident of Cliff Amos Rd in Spring Hill, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mrs. Woodard will be conducted Friday, January 1 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, with Pastor Curt Hoover officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Born on February 4, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Grady and Maggie Gilliam Thurman, and the widow of Azzie Dawson "A.D." Woodard Jr. She was a retired clerk at Roses Department Store, she also worked at The Market Basket for many years. Mrs. Woodard was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Thompson Station. Mrs. Woodard also loved her four legged companions and her cross word puzzles.
Survivors include her children: Linda John Massey, Carol Jerry Jones, Wendell Peggy Woodard, Michael Barbara Woodard, of Columbia; grandchildren: Johnny Massey, Joey Massey, Mike Woodard, Jennifer Jones, Bethany Woodard; step-grandchildren: Andy Sanders, and Dana Jenkins; a sister-in-law Betty Thurman, of Columbia and a nephew Randy Thurman, of Columbia; 8 great-grandchildren, 7 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Thurman; a grandson Kenneth Woodard, and a step grandson Shane Sanders.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Massey, Joey Massey, Mike Woodard, Mickey Massey, Dalton Woodard, Andy Sanders, Terry Hann, and Billy Manier.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dennis Booker, and Dr. Ben Gardner.
