Jean Thomason, age 85, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on April 5, 2019 at NHC Columbia after a brief illness.
Jean was born on April 19, 1933 to Leonard and Myrtle Haygood Smith in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. After raising her family, Jean worked at Maury Regional Medical Center for ten years as a Certified Nurse Technician. She enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables that she grew, and was a wonderful cook. Whether it were her children, grandchildren, other family members, friends, or patients, Jean lived her entire life taking care of others.
She is survived by her daughters Shirley (Jim) Stewart and Lynn (Danny) King all of Columbia; her sons Garry (Cate) Thomason of Eagleville and Terry (Carol) Thomason of Mt. Pleasant; her grandchildren Amy Emerson, Stephanie Marino, Michael Bailey, Angie Haley, Regina Bailey, Justin McKennon, Matthew Gibson, Amanda Thomason, Emily Thomason, Brett Holt, Colin Holt, and Cassie Thomason; 20 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friends Mary Alice Malone, Margaret Hendrix, and Rudell Hickman. She was preceded in death by her husband Claude C. Thomason, Jr; son Rickey Bailey; daughter Debbie Gibson; granddaughter Jessica McKennon; brother Leonard E. Smith, Jr. and sister Flora Mae Holloway.
Services will be Monday, April 8, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, with Bro. Jim Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. Family will visit with friends on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.
Pallbearers will be Colin Holt, Tim Holt, Codie Bauman, Bruce McKennon, John Harris, and Rick Marino.
