Jean E. Ponder

Mrs. Jean E. Ponder, age 74, of Pleasantville, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Westwood Health Care Center in Decaturville, Tennessee.
Jean was born on April 13, 1940 to the late Salvatore “Sam” Provenzano and the late Emma Geneva Richeson in Port Arthur, Texas. She married to Richard L. Ponder, on December 30, 1960. They met in Port Arthur while he was there visiting relatives. They raised three children together: Paul, Ann and Mark. They were married for 53 wonderful years until he passed away a few months ago on February 20, 2014.
Jean attended Port Arthur College for a year, then went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring after twenty years.
She is survived by her children: Paul R. Ponder of Linden, Tennessee, Mark D. (Amy) Ponder of Knoxville, Tennessee and Ann P. (Tom) Giltner of Hohenwald, Tennessee; grandchildren: Madison Ponder, Brittani Thornton, Eric Giltner, and Creed Giltner. In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by her brother: David Paul Ryan.
A joint memorial service for Mr. and Mrs. Ponder will be planned for the spring of 2015 at the Burton-Ponder Cemetery in Smithville, Tennessee where they will be inurned side by side.
