Jean was a transplant from Wisconsin, Columbia was Jean and Jerry’s semi-retirement home. Here, this place was to dodge the snow and try and keep up with their five children, spread throughout the country that they spent a life-time raising.
Jean Patricia Kohler was 85 years old when she went to be with her maker. She passed at NHC Maury with her husband of 65 years, Gerald by her side. She was born in Cudahy, Wisconsin to the late Charles Meerschaert and Pearl Dziobkowski. Before entering their semi-retirement in a warmer climate, Jean owned a Dairy Queen back in Wisconsin where she worked tirelessly. After moving to Columbia, she worked for various jobs to keep herself busy.
Jean is survived by her husband: Gerald Kohler; son: Mark Kohler of Wisconsin; her four daughters: Linda Kohler, Diane Londre, Peggy Kohler, and Laura (Chad) Ahles; grandchildren: Brad and Bryan Londre; great grandchildren: Lauren, Alli, Abby, and Kohl Londre; and sister: Mary Ann Eustice. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Kohler.
Jean’s life will be celebrated with a memorial Funeral Mass at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church Friday, September 20, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. The family will visit with friends from 10:30 until the service time.
