Mrs. Jean Crumley Adams Kelly, age 73, resident of Denise Drive, passed away Tuesday, October 19 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Jean will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 4:00 – 9:00 and on Friday from 3:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Jean was born in Giles County on May 16, 1937, the daughter of the late George F. Crumley and Lucille Page Crumley. She was the wife of the late Huey R. Kelly. She retired from Publix Shirt Factory and was well known around Columbia as the "tin lady" for her collection of aluminum cans and various items for recycling. The thing she enjoyed most in life was being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Jean loved to dance and watch NASCAR because her son Donnie and grandson Chris were both involved in it. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son: Donnie Crumley of Salisbury, NC; grandchildren: April Chapman of Mt. Pleasant, Chris Tracy Crumley of Spring Hill, Jada Crumley of Mt. Pleasant, Gracie Hagan of Lawrenceburg, Stephanie Adams of Mt. Pleasant and Briana Crumley of Salisbury, NC; great-grandchildren: Kolby Chapman, Darius Chapman, Damian Chapman, Taylor Crumley, Weston Crumley and Jaden Pride; one sister: Ruth Bill Hughes of Nashville; one aunt: Artel Smith of Columbia; 2 half-brothers and a special friend, Roy LaRue of Columbia. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by one son, Randle Hank Adams and one great-grandson, Darius Chapman.
Pallbearers will be William Hughes III, Roy LaRue, Mickey Chapman, Chris Crumley, Tim Gregory and Marvin Brady. Honorary pallbearer will be Danny Oliver.
