Jason A. Pennington, 92, a resident of Highland Avenue in Columbia, passed away Friday June 17, 2011 at his residence.
Born December 14, 1918 in Henryville, TN, son of the late Richard and Viola Woodard Pennington and the husband of the late Doris Clark Pennington, who went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2011 after 74 years of loving marrige. Mr. Pennington was a reited agent from L&N/CSX Railroad, loved working in his yard and sitting on his little stool with his pocket knife cutting crabgrass. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Columbia and was a loving family man.
Graveside memorial services for Mr. Pennington will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday in the Abors of Polk Memorial Gardens with Rev. Scott Aleridge officiating and Tommy Vann soloist. Inurnment will follow.
Mr. Pennington is survived by his daughter: Patsy Billy Rogers of Columbia; grandchildren: Woody Givens, Cindy Gonzales, Allison Hanback, Jeffrey Hill, Mike Hill, Beth Taylor, Angie Waugh, John Benjamin Pennington, all of Columbia and Wendy Ritchie of Vidalia, GA. He was preceded in death by three children, Sondra Hill, Blake Pennington and Nancy Sue Pennington; his brothers, Gilbert, Howard and Charles Pennington, and a sister, Nathalie Pennington.
