Janie Lou Swift

Janie Lou Swift, age 64, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 at home.

Janie was born on September 17, 1954, in Columbia, Tennessee to Nathan E. Pierce and Pauline Johnson Spires. She worked for several years at Nolan’s Barbecue. She was a very giving woman, and had a big heart. She loved being on the water, especially while fishing for catfish, on the boat. She also enjoyed camping. She loved her poodles Pep and Buddy.

Janie is survived by her children, Jerry “Sam” (Meredith) Scroggins of Summertown, Burr Scroggins of Columbia, Amanda Reed-Hardison of Lewisburg and Sasha “Sassy-Poo” (Derek) Dollar; grandchildren: Casey “Crow” Scroggins, William Salsman, Cason Hardison, Paige Scroggins, Haley Scroggins, Emery Lynn Blanton, Jessica Birdwell, Savannah Scroggins, Karlie Reed, Skyler Salsman, Loni Salsman, Cae lee Hardison; numerous great-grandchildren; and siblings: Larry Pierce, James “Pecker” Pierce and Betty Jo Meacham. Janie was preceded in death by her parents: Nathen E. Pierce and Pauline Johnson Spires; and siblings: Wendell Pierce and Janice Payne.

Funeral Services for Janie will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Danny Grooms officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12:00 Noon.
