Janice Cole Uptain

Janice Cole Uptain, age 67, a resident of Columbia, TN passed away June 28th, 2013.
Janice was born April 2nd, 1946 in Columbia, TN to parents late Julian D. Cole and mother late Addie “Fly” Cole. Janice retired in the quality control department at Inter City Products. She was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Columbia, TN. She was a very special lady, whom everybody loved, and was always known to have a smile on her face. Janice was captain of the Columbia Central High girls’ basketball team. She played ladies softball for several years after high school. Janice passed away at Maury Regional Medical Center, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Services for Janice will be Monday, July 1st at 10:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. Family and friends may visit Sunday, June 30th from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Rev. David McGregor will officiate the service
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Special thanks to: 3rd Floor Oncology Unit at Maury Regional Medical Center, Dr. Rinehart, and Dr. Messenger and his staff.
Survivors include: Husband, Ray Uptain, Sons; Monty Uptain, Clint Uptain, Siblings; Joanne (Bob) Ramsey of Spring Hill, TN, Betty (W.B.) Grigsby of Columbia, TN, Carolyn (Edward) Jarrett of Columbia, TN, David Cole of Lewisburg, TN, and Mary Lee Barker of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Numerous nieces and nephews, and close family friends; Kay Wells and Andie Rhodes.
Janice is preceded in death by: Sisters; Evelyn (David) Harwood, Claire (Bobby) Malugin, Daughter; Kim Uptain, and Parents; Julian & Addie Cole.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
