Janice Thomas Heffington

Mrs. Janice Thomas Heffington, 78, a resident of Iris Drive in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Sunday, October 30 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Born August 19, 1933 in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late James and Georgia Ann Brooks Thomas and the wife of Ray Heffington, for 48 years. She attended Central High School, had worked for Columbia Bell South and later for Lucille's Restaurant. She served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion in Columbia for two terms. She was an avid dancer, enjoyed music, loved fishing at Arrow Lake, cooking and keeping her grandchildren. Mrs. Heffington was a member of the Cross Bridges Baptist Church in the Cross Bridges Community.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Eddie "Big Ed" Prince, Jr. of Columbia and Wanda Stanfill of Mt. Pleasant; her grandchildren: Eddie "Punkin" Prince III, Kayla Stanfill and Emily Stanfill, all of Mt. Pleasant; Misty Sullivan, Melissa Sullivan and Chasity Bucy, all of Columbia; one great-grandchild, Chad Prince of Culleoka; her twin sister: Jerrie Thomas of Mt. Pleasant; first cousin: Jane Hughes of Columbia; nieces: Donna Dale Allen Stewart of MI, Jamie Lee Thomas and Janice Alleen Thomas, both of E. Bruton, AL; nephew: James Gant Thomas, Jr. of Bruton, AL; special friends: Patricia, Stephanie and Joshlyn Barnes, all of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Felecia Ann Prince and a brother: James "Buster" Thomas.
Funeral services for Mrs. Heffington will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 2 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Donald Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends 4:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be James Malugin, Ricky Pruitt, Mike Pruitt, Ricky Haskins, Timmy Massey and Brian Runions. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Brooks, Clifford Brooks. Wren Brooks, Gilbert Cathey and Alfred Johnson.
