James William Bailey

February 17, 1941 — January 24, 2009

Mr. James William Bailey, age 67, passed away Saturday, January 24, at NHC/Hillview following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Bailey will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor David Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Bailey Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Born in Lawrence County, he was the son of the late William and Pauline Holtsford Bailey and the husband of Mary Miner Bailey. He worked for Tomlin Construction as a carpenter and concrete finisher. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Hohenwald. Mr. Bailey was preceded in death by his first wife, Wilma Beckum Bailey.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: William Michael Bailey of Mt. Pleasant; sisters: Katherine Sharp of Mt. Pleasant and Betty James Weeks of Lawrenceburg; step-son: Patrick Keltner of Mt. Pleasant; step-daughters: Melissa Laby of Johnson City and Kristen Johnston of Raleigh, NC; several step-grandchildren; nieces: Melissa Dugger of Mt. Pleasant and Kim Hendrix of Lawrenceburg; nephew: Dewayne Sharp of Summertown. In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by a step-son: Tim Keltner.

Pallbearers will be Jack Curtis, Charlie Maybry, Oscar Wallace, Herb Rochelle, Raymond Workman and Lonnie Daniels. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Cummins Couch, Karen Peery, Edward Moore and the staff of NHC/Hillview along with all the nurses and CNA's who took care of him. A special thanks to Jackie Murphy and also to the Hospice of the Highland Rim.
