Mr. James ?Jim? Walsh, age 77, resident of Greensmill Road in Columbia, passed away on Thursday, April 29 at NHC/Hillview.
Funeral services for Mr. Walsh will be conducted 3:00 PM Sunday, May 2 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Father Davis Chackaleckel officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
Born June 22, 1932 in Peekskill, NY, he was the son of the late Patrick and Mary Butler Walsh and the husband of Ursula Walsh. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a teacher for the Tarrytown School District. Mr. Walsh was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was the youngest Grand Knight in New York. He was member of the Holy Spirit and Assumption Catholic churches in New York.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Tim Alison Walsh of Town of Courtland, NY, Darby Teresa Walsh of Poughkeepsie, NY, Kelly Christine Walsh of Wappingers Falls, NY and Christopher Walsh of Columbia; step-daughters: Dawn Chase of Peekskill, NY, Ursula Michael Doorhy of Spring Hill and Carol Ann Jamie Alexander of Verplanck, NY; step-son: Christian Chase of Putnam Valley, NY; three sisters: Sister Margaret of Columbus, OH, Mary Jane Weitsma and Helen Walsh of Peekskill, NY; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Monsignor Joseph Martin of Wappingers Falls, NY.
