James W. ?PawPaw? Stanford, age 61, a resident of Mockingbird Drive in Columbia, passed away on Thursday, February 15, at his home.
Funeral services for Mr. Stanford will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Dan Buie and Rev. Mike Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post # 19.
The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4:00 ? 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Born in Giles County, he was the son of the late James Luther and Edna Childress Stanford and husband of Brenda Fraser Stanford of 40 years. He was a former employee of GE and was presently working for ACES/Air Conditioning Express Service. He was an Air Force veteran, of the Baptist faith and an avid fisherman.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Missy David Browning and Mindy Dennis Draper, both of Columbia; grandchildren, Breanna Holt, Faith Browning, Destinee Browning, Harrison James ?Blake? Browning, all of Columbia and Britnee Browning of Mt. Pleasant; brothers, Robert Beverly Stanford, Ronnie Stanford and Jeff Stanford, all of Columbia; sisters Margie David Patterson and Marilyn John Brock, both of Columbia; several nieces and nephews; special companions, Jasmine and CoCo. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Ann Stanford; father-in-law, Norman ?Killer? Fraser; mother-in-law, Colleen Walker Fraser and a brother-in-law, Todd Fraser.
Pallbearers will be Lee Williams, Marty Kindred, Jr., Carey Dale Stanford, Wade Stanford, Keith Stanford, Bryan Deweese, Mark Dewesse, Jamie Dewesse and Dean Kelley. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Tharp, Karl Schneider, Marvin Edwards, Ken Eubank, Ron Kincaid and Chris Hickman.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
