Mr. James W. Parker, 79, a resident of Rip Steele Road in Columbia, died Saturday, March 1, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Parker will be conducted Monday, March 3, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Reverend Telford Tharp and Reverend Jason Keyser officiating. The family received friends Sunday from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
The Giles County native was the son of the late Margaret Hardin Parker and late Thomas W. Parker of Giles County Tennessee, and the husband of the late Christine Owens Parker. He was a retired production worker from Union Carbide. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ.
Mr. Parker is survived by two sons, Bobby Wayne Judy Parker and David Ray Rhonda Parker, both of Columbia, TN. One sister, Eula Francis of Mt. Pleasant, TN., Six Grandchildren and Eight Great Grandchildren and a very special friend Etta Wilson of Columbia, TN. A special thanks to Etta Wilson from Bobby and David Parker for so lovingly caring for our father.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by four sisters and one brother preceded.
Active pallbearers will be Vaden Parker, David Ray Parker Jr., Buddy Castell, Danny Lay, Donald Frances and Larry Vick.
Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Union Carbide, William "Mum" Langley, Clyde Westmoreland and Jim Lockridge.
