Mr. James R. Luckett, 79, died November 26, 2002 at Maury Regional Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn Liles Luckett of Mt. Pleasant; one son, Daniel "Danny" Luckett of Mt. Pleasant; one foster daughter, Jamie Threet of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Janice Luckett Warner of Nashville; two brothers, Donald Madelyn Luckett of Franklin, TN and Wade Betty Luckett of Cumming, GA.
He was the son of the late Barnie and Bernice McClain Luckett. He was a member of the Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Mt. Pleasant Lodge #610, the Ethridge Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post #19.
He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was retired from Western Electric.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 28, 2002 from 4:00 until 8:30 p.m. at the Williams Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mr. Luckett will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Reverend Arlo Peppers and Reverend Dwight Liles officiating. Burial will be in the McClain Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Johnson, Doug McClain, Jimmy McClain, Grady Hayes, Odell Haywood, Willard Grimes, John Rainey, and William E. Combs.
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews; Woody Liles, Rudy McNeely, Steve Moore, Greg Smith, and Ralph Culver; friends, Greg Johnson, George Whitwell, Eric Seiloff, Mickey Allen, Billy Grimes, Doug King, Mike Waugh, and Ronnie Frazier, and retirees of Western Electric Company.
