James R. Jones, 68, of Columbia, TN, passed away from cardiac complications secondary to cancer on October 2 at Maury Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born December 13, 1941, in McAdams, MS, the son of late Talbert Raymond and Lula Mae Moore Jones. He was the oldest of 3 siblings. On May 17, 1985, he married Jo Ellen Stanfield in Vicksburg, MS, who survives.

He served in the United States Navy as an electrician?s mate in the 1960?s. After his discharge, he was employed in the oil field for 33 years, retiring in 1996. He did volunteer work and was very active at Riverside Baptist, his church in Columbia, TN.

He is survived by his wife: Jo Ellen Jones of Columbia, TN; son and daughter-in-law: Jeffrey and Dawn Ford of Ocean Springs, MS; son: Jim Reeser of New Orleans, LA; step-daughter and son-in-law: Dawn and Jack West of Thompson Station, TN; step-son and daughter-in-law: George and Jennifer Ezell of Vicksburg, MS; grandchildren: John Lee, Brandon, Ty, Amelia, Audrey, Jeffrey Jr., and Abigail.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 5 in the chapel of Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home in Vicksburg; MS. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Memorial Park in Vicksburg. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Alvin Barrett, Billy Savoie, Doug Traxler, Mike Traxler, Jon Traxler and Jack West. Honorary pallbearers will be Leroy Lewis, Randae Davis, Billy Bennifield, Randy Rose and Joe Hickman.

Williams Funeral Home of Columbia is assisting the family with local arrangements.
