Mr. James Glasco, age 85, departed this life on October 7, 2008 at Signature Health Care in Columbia.
Funeral services for Mr. Glasco will be conducted Friday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Gene Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Glasco was born April 28, 1923 in Giles County. He was the son of the late John and Jenny Glasco. He was the husband of the late Dimple Putnam Glasco who departed this life on August 21, 2003. They were married December 24, 1941 and shared sixty two years of laughter and tears serving their Lord and Savior.
Mr. Glasco served in the Army during World War II. He did his tour of duty in Germany. He retired from the county as a truck driver and enjoyed gardening and teaching Sunday School. In younger days he loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Glasco was a faithful member of the Elmore Church of the Nazarene until his health started to fail him.
He is survived by three sons: Jeff Glasco and Eddie Glenda Glasco of Columbia and Richard Judy Glasco of Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren: Chris Charita Glasco of Santa Fe, Lela David Eaglin of Washington, Wayne Laurie Glasco of Oklahoma City, OK, Greg Aubrey Glasco of Oklahoma City, OK and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother: John Robert Glasco and a sister: Ruby Hicks.
The family would like to thank the staff of Signature Health Care for their care and support of Mr. Glasco.
Pallbearers will be David Putnam, David Woody, Mickey Bowen, Earnie Culberson, Randy Nichols and Larry Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Elmore Church of the Nazarene.
