He moved to Idaho when he was 19 years old where he started his career as a Furnace Foreman at Central Farmers Fertilizer Plant. He later became employed by Dorr-Oliver, Inc, which took him all over the world as an engineer/consultant building water treatment plants. Jim was a hard worker, and although he would sometimes say otherwise, he loved to work! He finally retired at the age of 76 to enjoy the rest of his days in his cabin on the Tennessee River. Jim loved to fish and to just be outside enjoying the fresh air.

He was a devoted, loving father and grandfather and family meant the world to him. He had many friends from his travels and once you’re a friend of Jim Poag, he always took care of you!! We will all miss you!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred H. & Christine Poag, of Columbia, TN, his companion, Alice Urena Poag, and his brother, Victor (Vic) Poag.
