James English Pierce, Sr.

James English Pierce Sr. of Mount Pleasant passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Maury Regional Medical Center. James was born on July 29, 1949 to the late Manley Morrow and Mary Irene Brumley Morrow.


James was married to Linda Davis Pierce. He was an avid deer hunter and also loved classical music. James loved to spend time with his grandkids. He was retired from Stauffer Chemical in maintenance.


In addition to his wife Linda he is survived by his children: Diane (Joey Hargrove) Griggs, James (Jamie) English Pierce, Jr. and Tina (Nicky) Hodge; step-children: Sharon Cates and Walter Lynn “Yogi” Cates; grandchildren: Ashlyn (Todd) Fields, Kyle Chandler, Mason “Cole” Hodge, James “Adam” Allen, Kristen (Mitchell) Wright, Brianna(Tyler) Craig, Maddox Buie, Johnny “Colton” Griggs, Blake (Shauna) Cooper, and Dylan Cates; Great grandkids, Baylee Fields, Grace Fields, Brodee Fields, Kynslee Staggs, Kaybree Wright, Corbin Cooper, Deegan Cooper, and Baby Craig due in September.


Funeral services for Mr. Pierce will be conducted on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. The family will visit with friends from 2:00 to 4:00 prior to the service at the funeral home.


Military honors will be provided by The Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
