Mr. James N. Scroggins, 72, a resident of Scribner Ave. in Columbia, died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Scroggins will be conducted Saturday, October 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Robert Creasy and Rev. Phillip Lawson officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the American Legion Herbert Griffin Post #19. The family will visit with friends Friday from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Born in Limestone County, Alabama, he was the son of the late Willie and Nellie Gibson Scroggins and husband of Mary Cummins Scroggins. He had a hay business and was a retired mixer with Purina Feeds in Nashville. His hobby was farming. He served with the US Army 8055 MASH Unit in Korea from June 1950 to July 1951. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, 5 Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal and a Merit Unit Commendation.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Tim Brenda Lee Scroggins of Columbia; a grandson, Daniel Wade Scroggins son of Mary Ann Rummage of Columbia; a brother, Lawrence Louise Scroggins of Columbia; three sisters, Bertha Charles Clark, Lois Johnson and Evelyn Billy Patterson, all of Columbia. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Tucker and five brothers, Oscar, Elmer, L.M., Dean and Bud Scroggins.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Darrell Rinehart, Dr. Grant Barr, Willard Temes and Clyde Farris.
Memorial may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or to the Kidney Dialysis Center.
