James Larry McNabb, age 74, passed away peacefully at home in Hampshire on March 18th, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and children. Born on April 27th, 1950, in Lewis County, he was the son of the late James E. and Frances L. McNabb.
James was a man of many passions. He loved the great outdoors, finding joy in hunting, fishing, and the thrill of buying guns and knives. He was a dedicated family man, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones. Whether it was playing cards or simply spending time together, family was always at the heart of his world.
After a long and fulfilling career at Union Carbide, James retired, where he was fondly known by his colleagues as “Lightning” or “Little Mac.” He proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict, and in 1972, after returning home, he met the love of his life, Margaret L. Harvell. On August 24th, 1973, they were married and spent their lives side by side, especially after both of them retired.
James is survived by his devoted wife, Margaret McNabb, and their three children: Billy (Amanda) Runions, Jay (Melissa) Runions, and Jerry (Tabitha) McNabb. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Phillip (Crystal) Runions, Michael Bolton, Justice Bolton, Hunter Runions, Dakota (Charles) Williams, Jaden McNabb, Sophia Cooper, Tyson Burk, and Samantha Burk, along with five great-grandchildren: Bentley Levasen, Brynlee White, Amelia Jade Williams, Kayleigh Hoats, and Hannah Hoats. Two of his great-grandchildren, RJ and Chelsea Thorton, lovingly adopted him and Margaret as their PopPop and Nana. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Perkins and Sue (Curtis) McCoy, his brother, David McNabb, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerry McNabb, his mother-in-law Ruth Brown, and his brother-in-law William Brown.
James will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
