James Martin

April 30, 1953 — May 25, 2011

James Martin was born April 30, 1953 in Maury County, the son of the late Edgar Wesley Martin and Paralee Russell Martin. On December 1, 2006 he was married to Stephanie McNabb who survives.

James was self-employed and did custodial work and lawn care. He loved to sing at church and washing cars. His pastime was playing horseshoes. He worked for the Impact Center for over twenty years. He was a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to Stephanie, James is survived by two sons: Tim Tasha Warfield and Lashon Warfield, both of Nashville; step-daughter, Allison McNabb of Summertown; 5 grandchildren; one sister, Mary Helen Martin of Columbia; four brothers: William Martin of Nashville, Leon Martin and J.B. Ann Martin of Columbia and Everett Georgia Mae Martin of Cross Bridges; his mother-in-law, Peggy McNabb of Hampshire; sisters-in-law: Tammy Glenn Cates, Pamela Clyde Vaughn, Carrie Damon Lentini, Candace Randall Howell; foster child, Zechariah Palmer of Mt. Pleasant; special nieces, Lakeisha Baugh, Brenda Martin and Keybra Martin, all of Columbia along with several other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services for James will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Alvin Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends on Friday from 5:00 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Friends and family members will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Stephanie s family members, Avalon Hospice, Brooke Lee and Winter Thompson.
