James Larry Haywood, age 61, a resident of the Mt. Joy Community in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2010 at Hidden Acres Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services for Larry will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Dwight Liles and Rev. William Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 4:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Born on December 6, 1948 in Maury County, Larry was the son of the late James Edward and Sammie Fuller Haywood. He loved and played the guitar for many years. Larry was a member of the Mt. Joy Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons: Darryl Delanie Haywood and Sam Tonya Haywood, both of Mt. Pleasant; one brother: Odell Margie Haywood of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters: Norean Attkisson of Mt. Pleasant and Sue Stanley Mahon of Murfreesboro; five grandchildren: Katelyn, Preston, Miranda, Wyatt and Matthew Haywood. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by one brother: Curtis Ray Haywood.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Haywood, Bobby Haywood, John Michael Irwin, Ken Norman, Steve Cross, Mike Yearby, Matt Roy and Ephraim McClain. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Haywood, Steve McCain, Ray McCain, Clifford King, Jr., Gene Craig, Jim Hutcheson, Larry Ragsdale, Herman King, Jimmy Hamilton, William Lamar and Jerry Weatherford.
