James “Jimmy” William Godwin, Jr., age 58, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, October 20 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Jimmy was born on August 12, 1960 in Gadsen, Alabama, to James William Godwin and Audrey Barnes Godwin. He was the husband of Rhonda McMinemon Godwin and a dedicated family man. He worked as a machinist for General Motors for thirty-three years. He loved his family, and especially loved traveling with his wife, Rhonda. He loved cooking and was very talented in the kitchen, and was especially known for his gumbo, which was fantastic. He loved watching westerns.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife: Rhonda Godwin; children: Caleb (Samantha) Godwin, Josh (Kylee) Godwin, Cambre Godwin, Brooke (Bradley) Hall and Brandy Sims; grandchildren: Avery Godwin, Addyson Godwin, Remington Godwin, Chloe Knighten, Marley Hall, Gemma Hall; siblings: Glenda (Gene) Guelde and David (Robin) Kemp; mother-in-law: Linda McMinemon; and lots of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: James William Godwin and Audrey Barnes Godwin; and siblings: Jackie Kemp, Chuck Kemp and Imogene Langston.
A Celebration of Life for Jimmy will be held at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. with Randy Owens officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army. Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist Cemetery in Somerville, Alabama. The family will visit with friends on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until time for service at Noon.
Caleb Godwin, Josh Godwin, Greg Griffin, Chris Hallmark, James Kennedy, Bradley Hall and Billy Engle will serve as pallbearers.
