James Richardson Hudson, age 72, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on October 13, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
Jim was born, on November 21, 1941 to the late Carl Hudson and the late Dena Richardson Hudson in Ethridge, Tennessee. He was married to the love of his life, Pamela Wilsford Hudson for 52 years.
He was a helicopter pilot in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he achieved the rank of Captain. His fellow pilots knew him as “Flipper”.
He was a graduate of University of Tennessee Knoxville attaining a B.S. in Agri-business. He was a Sales and Marketing Executive with Shell Chemical Co., ICI Americas and Zeneca. His career included stops in Florida, California and Delaware. He retired from Zeneca in 1997 after six years in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Jim had a mischievous and adventurous spirit lending itself to a life filled with extensive world travel, friends, family and good times. Additionally, he enjoyed spending time on his cattle farm in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Columbia, Tennessee.
Jim is survived by his wife: Pamela Hudson of Mt. Pleasant; children: Daniel (Lupita) Hudson and Laura Hudson; grandchildren: Daniel, Elizabeth, Ana and Cody; brother: Bobby (Geneva) Hudson; sister-in-law: Jo Carolyn Hudson; nieces and nephews: Jeff, Leah, Will and Carla. He was preceded in death by his parents: Carl and Dena Hudson; brother: Tom Hudson; and nephew: John Hudson.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Columbia, Tennessee. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service, also at the church. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to First United Methodist Church, 222 W 7th St, Columbia, TN 38401, Zion Christian Academy, 6901 Old Zion Road, Columbia, TN 38401 or Kinder Corral de Risco.
