James M. Fly passed away on August 15, 2021, in Columbia, TN, at the age of 81.
Services will be conducted at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 1:00 p.m., his visitation will be held prior to his funeral service starting at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
James was of the Methodist faith. He was a mechanic by trade. He served in the Army from 1957 to 1959. He enjoyed farming and in his younger days, he enjoyed racing his own stock car. He loved getting out every day to “Buckey’s” or to the Waffle House. He was born and raised in the Santa Fe community.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Bryan and Gladis Fly; one sister: Kathleen; two brothers: Shelton Fly, Charles Fly; and nieces: Kay Haywood and Leann Dodson.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Carolyn Fly; sons: Keith (Tammy) Cates, Bryan Fly, David (Susan) Fly; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two sisters: Karen Andrews, and Margaret Minchey; and several cousins.
