James Howard Finerty

James Howard Finerty, age 74, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2015 at St. Thomas in Nashville Tennessee.

James was born on January 13, 1941 in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee to the late Robert Ollie Finerty and Lena Dugger Thomas. James married Gail Isabell on October 8, 1969. He worked as a custodian at Joseph Brown School and also worked at Ford Motor Credit. James served in the Army, Navy, and National Guard. He was a good hardworking man. He loved pets, especially birds, but above all, James loved his family. December was a difficult month for James as he grieved the loss of his son Chris.

The family will visit with friends on Saturday, April 25 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Brandon Smith and Dorris McMullin officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

James is survived by his wife Gail Isabell Finerty of Columbia; son Teddy Finerty of Columbia; his sunshine Christopher Nathan Finerty of Columbia; step-son Butch Taylor of Columbia; step-grandchildren Timmy Taylor, Kristen Taylor, and Kayla Taylor; siblings Nettie Gibson of Columbia, Helen (Dorris) McMullin of Summertown, Freda (Bob) Coats of Mt. Pleasant, Larry Finerty of Mt. Pleasant, Darlene Chapman of Florida, Lynn (Mike) Lovett of Culleoka, and Sandy Matthews of Columbia; brother-in-law Bobby Isabell and Larry Isabell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his son Chris Finerty; parents Robert and Lena Finerty; brothers Ollie Ray Finerty and Ricky Finerty; step-father Eugene Thomas; half-sister Irene Hughes; brothers-in-law Riley Gibson, Danny Chapman, and John Bearden.

Pallbearers will be Scott Finerty, Mike Isabell, Tim Isabell, Michael Lovett, Butch Taylor, and Darrel Hay.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the ICU and ICU step-down unit at Maury Regional Medical Center, the Airlift Team, the doctors and nurses at St. Thomas, and Whitney and Josh.
