James Everett Sanders

July 28, 1922 — January 18, 2004

Mr. James Everett Sanders, 81, a resident of Davis Dr. in Columbia, died Sunday, January 18, at his home.

Funeral services for Mr. Sanders will be conducted 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 20, 2004, in the chapel of Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Gwin and Bro. Arthur Haynes officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 5:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home

Born in Fentress County, Tn, he was the son of the late George and Mattie Banks Sanders and husband of Dorothy Cavender Sanders. He did maintenance for Stoneybrook Golf Course and worked for J.T. Kelly in the phosphate industry for 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Collegeview Church of Christ.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Jim Sanders of Columbia, Debra Gary Tanner of Pleasantville, Tn and Bobby Tracy Sanders of Shelbyville, Ky.; five grandsons, Daniel Sanders and Cole Sanders, both of Shelbyville, Ky., Logan Sanders and Dylan Sanders, both of Pulaski, Tn. and Travis Tanner of Pleasantville, Tn.; three step-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Edwards and Ethel Love both of Columbia. He was preceded in death by a brother, G.H. Sanders and two sisters, Annie Mae McCaleb and Agnes Oliver.

Pallbearers will be William Love, Thomas N. Edwards, Ronald Fuller, Bill Johnson, Jerry Brunson, Garry Tanner, and Don Fly. Honorary pallbearers will be Staff of Stoneybrook Golf Course, the Doctors and staff of Columbia Oncology, Dr. Toban, Dr. Kelly, the staff of NHC Home Care and members of Collegeview Church of Christ.
