Mr. James Edward ?Mac? McFarland, Jr., age 78, resident of the Pulaski Highway, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, in Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Joseph Wells and Joe Macer officiating. urial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honorary provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
The family will visit with friends on Friday from 3:00 ? 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home
The Miami, Fla., native was the son of the late James Edward McFarland, Sr., and Bayla Commons McFarland. He was the husband of Faye Brewer McFarland of Columbia, whom he married on May 27, 1955. He was a 1948 graduate of Columbia Central High School and an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was retired as garage manager for Columbia Power and Water System and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors in addition to his wife include one son: Bruce Wayne McFarland of Columbia; one daughter: Donna McFarland John Martin of Columbia; three grandchildren: Brooke McFarland Walters, Mallory Loveless and Karter Martin, all of Columbia; one great-granddaughter: Morgan Walters of Columbia; two brothers-in-law: Austin Emelene Brewer and Charles Thelma Brewer, both of Columbia; three sisters-in-law: Flora Stone, Maye Johnston and Laura Parks, all of Columbia; many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law: Virginia Dunn and Juanita Voss.
Pallbearers will be Randy Brewer, Ray Brewer, William ?Bubba? Dunn, Glenn Voss, Larry Turner, Mark Morrow, Kenneth Pitchford and Bobby Andrews. Honorary pallbearers will be former and present employees of Columbia Power & Water System, Dr. Benny Gardner, Bobby Williams and Damian Cole, Bill and Kitty Chaffin, David and Ruby Westmoreland, Dr. Shaun and Stephanie Corbin.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1212, Columbia, TN 38402.
