James Daniel Mayberry

October 25, 1931 — March 9, 2003

Mr. James Daniel "Jim" Mayberry, 71, a resident of Brunson Drive and the husband of Marie Bumpus Mayberry, died Sunday, March 9, 2003 at Marshall Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Mayberry will be conducted Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Columbia Funeral Home with John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The Hickman County native was the son of the late Daniel Henry and Lelia Bell Nichols Mayberry. He attended Peabody College, University of Tennessee, University of Colorado, and received Master Degree from Austin Peay State University. He began his teaching career at Hay Long High School in Mt. Pleasant in 1957. In 1978 he became principal of Mt. Pleasant Intermediate School, then he became Supervisor of K-12 for Maury County Board of Education Central office, where he retired. He was former assistant scout master of Boy Scout Troop #103 and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Graymere Church of Christ where he taught the Adult Sunday School Class for 25 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Jill Mayberry of Primm Springs, TN; one son, Daniel Henry Donna Mayberry of Murfreesboro, TN ; three granddaughters, Megan Marie Mayberry, Jennifer Anne Mayberry and Danielle Nicole Mayberry all of Murfreesboro, TN ; several cousins.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Cochran, Greg Dean, John Abernathy, Kenny Norman, Dan Parsley, and Jimmy Langsdon.

Honorary pallbearers will be George Brazelton, Leon Whitlatch, Ron Bishop, Ernie Allen, Doug Burton, Frank Wells, members of the Hardison/Skelton Sunday School Class at Graymere Church of Christ, and all of his former students.
