James Dalton Hamby

Mr. James Dalton Hamby, 71, died Sunday, September 12, 2004, at his residence on Denham Ave. in Columbia.

Funeral services for Mr. Hamby will be conducted Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Bob Adair and Rev. Ron Eversole officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born in Hackleburg, Al., he was the son of the late Lonnie F. and Bertie Oliver Hamby and husband of Robbie Joiner Hamby. He was a general manager for Mid State Distributors, a school bus driver, a masons and a member of the Al Menah Temple Shrine and served in the US Army during the Korean War.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Marjorie Lynn Buddy Freeman of Columbia; two sons, James Michael Sharon Hamby of Thompson Station and Gary Wayne Susan Hamby of Columbia; five grandchildren, Robyn Doug Anderson of Columbia, Jason Hamby of Thompson Station, Kristi Hamby of Thompson Station, Brian Hamby of Columbia and Trevor Hamby of Columbia; three great grandchildren, Lyndsey Curtis, Wyatt Hamby and Landon, all of Columbia; a host of special friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Hamby.

Pallbearers will be Robert Baugher, Billy Gowan, Norman Simbeck, Jack West, Doug Anderson, Chris Joiner, Mike Williams and Brian Hamby. Honorary pallbearers will be the LCRC Rabbit Club and Caris Hospice.
