James Collis Harlan

May 20, 1928 — July 25, 2008

Mr. James Collis Harlan, age 80, a former resident of Alpine Drive in Columbia, passed away on Friday, July 25, in Clarksville.

Funeral services for Mr. Harlan will be conducted Sunday July 27, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Jim Ledbetter and Bro. Gary Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The Lawrence County native was the son of the late Jim and Hattie Williams Harlan and the husband of Zadie Sanders Harlan of Columbia. Mr. Harlan was owner and operator of Harlan's Plumbing & Electric. He was a member and served a deacon of the Mooresville Pike Baptist Church.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters: Gail Jimmy Harris of Clarksville and Sandra Tommy Winn of Lewisburg; grandchildren: James Christopher Jessica Harris of Clarksville, Jennifer Ann Bryan Harris Muerer of Nashville, Joshua Wayne Brandy Winn and Michael Harlan Winn both of Lewisburg; great-grandson: Christopher Lane Harris of Clarksville; two sisters: Louise King of Columbia and Christine Davis of GA. He was preceded in death by five brothers.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Winn, Michael Winn, Chris Harris, Bryan Muerer, Gary Sanders and Ray Brewer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry, Terry and Jerry Sanders
