Mr. James Allen "Jim" Jorgensen, Jr., 34, a resident of Trousdale Lane in Columbia, died Wednesday, February 19, 2003 from injuries received in an automobile accident in Grand Canyon West, Arizona.
Funeral services for Mr. Jorgensen will be conducted Friday, February 28, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Reverend Patrick Connor officiating. Military honors will be provided by Herbert Griffin American Legion Post # 19. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Detroit, Michigan native was the son of Susan Holden Jorgensen of Columbia, Tennessee and James A. Jorgensen, Sr. of Westland, Michigan. He was the husband of Mary Davis Jorgensen of Columbia. He was an operations technician for Saturn Corporation in which he was a member of the United Auto Workers union. He was a computer and music enthusiast, avid traveler, movie buff, and football and hockey fan. He was a member of the Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Army during Desert Storm.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a step son, Chris Wallace of Columbia, TN; a step daughter, Kim Wallace of Columbia, TN; a step granddaughter, Sabrina Estrada of Columbia, TN; a step grandson, John Christopher Carrizales of Columbia, TN; three sisters, Amber Warren and Erin Jorgensen of Westland, MI, and Jennifer William Moore of Redford, MI; maternal grandparents, Oscar and Mary Holden of Westland, MI; paternal grandfather, Robert Thomas of Traverse City, MI; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the United Auto Workers and Op-Techs of the Saturn Corporation.
