James Albert ?Pops? Gray, age 74, resident of Dugger Street in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Born April 21, 1937 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Marion Estes and Rosie Lee Lemay Gray. He was the husband of Betty Lou Odom Gray of Mt. Pleasant. James was a farmer and was employed by H.G. Hill Store. He loved fishing, hunting, country music, auctions and NASCAR. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Patricia Tildon Workman of Mt. Pleasant; three sons, Anthony Gray, Timmy Mary Ann Blankenship Gray and Bobby Regina Gray all of Mt. Pleasant; 14 grandchildren, Brandi Chris Martin Boshers, Zandi Justin Tosh, Chandi Eddie Tosh, Chris Gray, Brian Jacquelin Gray, Tony Kelly Gray, Stephanie Gray, Dewayne Breanna Gray, Brittney Blankenship, Derek Melissa Gray, Samantha Gray, Terry Charity Lovett, and Brittany Kennedy; 21 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Flora Coy Lee Wiseman of Columbia, Ruby Stanley Bridges and Betty Kenneth Powell both of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters-in-law, Ina Ricky Lovell of Mt. Pleasant and Kathy Mike Skora of Nashville; brother-in-law, Buford Shirley Odom of Mt. Pleasant; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gray was preceded in death by brothers, Sterling Norman Gray and William ?Ed? Gray, brothers-in-law, Terry Thompson and William Felix Odom, sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth ?Libby? Gray and daughter-in-law, Sheila Ann Gray.
Funeral services for Mr. Gray will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 29, 2011 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Randy McNeece officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
The Gray Family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Active pallbearers will be Phillip Counts, Buddy Odom, Joey Odom, Eddie Tosh, Chris Martin and Darrell King. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren of Mr. Gray.
