Mr. Ivan Walters, age 67, of the Santa Fe Community, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Ivan was the son of Ivan Fox Walters and Ether Pearl Caldwell Walters and was born on January 30, 1947 at King’s Daughters Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee. He was a veteran in the U. S. Army and served honorably. Additionally, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He worked in restoration and construction and was a retiree of Occidental Chemical Company.
On January 26, 1983 just before his thirty-sixth birthday, Ivan married Anita and they would have celebrated 32 wonderful years together this January. Personally, Ivan was a “jack of all trades” who knew something about everything. He had a vast knowledge of many subjects. Because of this, friends and family referred to him as “Professor”. He wasn’t someone you would easily forget. He loved sharing his knowledge and loved talking. He was an argumentative debater who stood strong in his principles. He loved having strong opinions and sharing them with others.
He also read lots of stories and in turn loved to write stories, even if no one else ever read them. Additionally, he loved making things and was a tinkerer. He loved guns. Anthropology was a subject he enjoyed studying. He loved cats and animals in general with the exception of dogs.
Mr. Walters is survived by his loving wife: Anita Davis Walters of Santa Fe; and daughters: Cuffey (Bryan) Stancliff, Jenny Walters and Nychie Walters all of Santa Fe. He was preceded in death by his parents: Ivan Fox Walters and Ether Pearl Walters; and sister: Virginia Walters Hobbs.
The family will visit with friends over food and beverages on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 12 Noon until 3:00 p.m. at Blevins Hall inside Williams Funeral Home with military honors being celebrated at 1:00 p.m. by the United States Army. In lieu of flowers the family asks that friends bring a favorite dish or beverage to share as they fellowship together in celebration of Ivan’s life.
