Irma Lelabell Pagel

Irma Lelabell Pagel, age 91 passed away on September 5, 2021, at Poplar Estates Senior Living community in Columbia, Tennessee.

Irma was born on October 8, 1929, in Primm Springs, Tennessee to the late Wheeler Slaughter and Sarah Scott Slaughter. Irma attended school in Primm Springs, Arkland, and Santa Fe. Irma lived most of her life in Maury County. Her early childhood was spent in the Sawdust community. She was married to Alfred Amos Pagel for 67 years till he passed in 2015. Irma lived in Columbia, Summertown, and Brushy near Centerville as her husband Alfred preached at Churches of Christ in those and other areas. Irma was a long-time member of the Church of Christ.

Irma enjoyed the outdoors and especially gardening. She took great pride in and loved her children. She always wanted to take one more picture at any gathering of the family. She loved to laugh and was the undisputed family champion in the Chinese checkers game. She made delicious chocolate pies and carrot cakes. She was self-taught on the piano and entertained her family and later friends at the Poplar Estates Senior Living community with her gospel tunes and singing. She will be missed and remembered.

There will be a visitation with family and friends at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee on Thursday, September 9th, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 10th, 2021 at 2:00 pm with visitation prior between 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Irma is survived by her sons Barry Pagel (Sharon) (St. Petersburg, Florida) and Chris (Mandy) Pagel (Lebanon, Tennessee); one daughter Linda Pagel Tanner (Clarksville, Tennessee); grandsons Jason (Jennifer) Pagel, Eric (Christina) Tanner, Caleb (Jessica) Pagel, Trent Pagel, Jake (Briana) Dismang, Josh Dismang, granddaughter Lori (Mike) Koffer; great-grandchildren Noah Pagel, Luka Pagel, Sadie Pagel, Riley Pagel, Morgan Pagel, Beau Pagel, Tanner Koffer, Alyssa Koffer, Callie Koffer, Wyatt Koffer, Madison Tanner, Eric Tanner II, and Jayden Tanner, great-great-granddaughter Blakely Tanner; sister Inis Foster of Lebanon Tennessee.

Irma is proceeded in death by her brothers Robert Slaughter, Austin Slaughter, and sisters Bertha Gordon, Neva Williams, and Jewell Lane, and her son-in-law Ronnie Tanner.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Jason Pagel, Caleb Pagel, Trent Pagel, Eric Tanner, Jake Dismang, and Josh Dismang.

Memorials can be made in Irma’s honor to: Harpeth Hills Church of Christ missions fund or the American Heart Association.
