Imogene B. O’Neal, age 88, a long-time resident of Columbia, died Saturday the 11th of January at LifeCare Center of Columbia.
Imogene was born in 1931 in Mt Pleasant, raised in the Screamer community. She graduated from Haylong HS in 1950. She retired from Public Shirt Factory in Columbia after approximately 20 years of service.
She loved to be with her husband Cabe O’Neal camping at Harrison Mill Campground, where she and Cabe were part owners, with all her camping friends and family. She also loved to sew for the public after retirement and go to the Senior Citizens to play cards with her friends.
Imogene is preceded in death by her husband Cabe Libscomb O’Neal and her son Mike O’Neal, three brothers Rayburn Barr ,Ralph Barr and Winford Morris Barr. She is survived by her son Wendell O’Neal (Debbie O’Neal), grandson Brad O’Neal, two great-grandsons Luke and Jude O’Neal, and granddaughter Kelly Myers, two sisters Barbara Ann Spencer of Columbia and Sue Patterson of Columbia.
Memorial gifts in her honor may be made to Highland Park Baptist Church in Columbia.
Funeral services for Imogene will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home with Gerald Barr officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until time of service at the funeral home.
