Ima Jean Greene of Columbia, TN, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at NHC Columbia. Ima was 89 years old.
Ima Jean was born on January 13, 1929, in Pleasantville, TN to the late Walter Thompson and Mary Lou Cocke. She devoted her life to the care of her son, John. Ima Jean worked tirelessly to see that he and all children with handicaps would have the rights and advantages the same as other children. Ima Jean was a long-time member of Craft Methodist Church.
Ima Jean is survived by her wonderful son; John Anthony Greene; brother Walton (Sandra) Thompson; sisters: Marla Thompson and Mary Ann Carter.
A service in honor of Ima Jean’s life will take place on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 to 1 pm, prior to service.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff members at NHC Columbia and Hospice Compassus for their wonderful care.
