Howard Rogers "Charlie" Brown

Mr. Howard Rogers "Charlie" Brown, age 84, a resident of Hampshire Pike in Columbia, passed away Wednesday, November 10 at his home.

Born November 15, 1925 in Leicester, NC, he was the son of the late Jessie and Sarah Rogers Brown. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Sue Black Brown and his second wife: Pearl Brown. He retired from McLouth Steel Corporation in Trenton, MI and was of the Baptist faith. Charlie loved blue grass music, horse racing, gardening, baseball, football and watching CNN. He had a love of telling jokes and making everyone laugh.

He is survived by his children: Carol McCall and Debbie Harold Fields , both of Columbia, Roger Patty Brown of New Jersey and Michael Brown of Aiken, SC; grandchildren: Kimberly McCall, Jonathon Voight and Cassy Moss, all of Columbia, Keith McCall of Michigan, Felicia Wahidi of Smyrna, Zeek Brown and Joshua Brown, both of Chicago; great grandchildren: Gage McCall, Haylee Taylor, Austin Taylor, Jayla Voight, Kaysan Wahidi and Chase Moss; brothers: Don Brown of Murfreesboro and Cecil Brown of North Carolina; sister: Betty Jean of Asheville, NC; special companion and faithful friend: Sugar, his dog. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law: Larry McCall.

Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be conducted 7:00 PM Thursday, November 11 at the Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Swango officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 5:00 PM until service time at the church.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Another service will be conducted at the Big Sandy Mush Methodist Church in Leicester, NC on Saturday, November 13 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Groce Funeral Home in Asheville, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Loyal Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, 109 E. 17th St., Columbia, TN 38401
