Howard L. Anderson

Howard L. Anderson was born February 25, 1922 in Vinton, Iowa, the son of the late William Carl Anderson and Cora Barta Anderson. Howard was the husband of 60 years of Evelyn Peterson Anderson of Columbia. He was a longtime resident and farmer in Vinton, IA, where he worked the land for many years raising corn and soybeans. Howard and his dear wife, Evelyn, relocated to Columbia with their daughter and son-in-law and became members of Northside Baptist Church. Howard served our country during WW II, being stationed in Germany. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Vinton, IA.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter: Sandra Keith Studebaker of Columbia; two grandchildren: Dr. Rebecca Jesse Severe of Columbia and Brad Brea Studebaker of Vinton, IA; five great-grandchildren: Micaiah Severe and Annika Severe, Brooklyn Studebaker, Beau Studebaker and Breslyn Studebaker; two brothers: Warren and Jim Anderson, both of IA and a sister: Lucille White of IA. In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by siblings: Ivan Anderson, Forrest Anderson, Mable Dunakey, Irene Johanneson, Dorothy Benson and Glenn Anderson.

Howard passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at NHC Hillview with his loving family at his side.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, August 3, at 10:30 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Ron Gleaves officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6-8 P.M.at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Beard, John Buchanan, Jim Dennison, Larry Powell, Don Rose, David Smith, Larry Warren, Bill Wheeler, Richard Zielinski, Charles Cole, John Conners, Richard Baud, Gary Baker, Bill Alderson and Mark Stewart.
