Howard Kelley

August 17, 1924 — July 23, 2005

Mr. Howard Kelley, 80, a resident of the Mt. Joy Community in Mt. Pleasant died Saturday, July 23, 2005, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Kelley will be conducted Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Reverend Chris Gowan and Reverend Dwight Liles officiating. Burial will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Santa Fe, Tennessee native, was the son of the late Porter Wilburn and Nettie Potts Kelley and was the husband of Betty Adair Haywood Kelley. Mr. Kelley was first married to Mary Lorean Gilmore Kelley who died in 1994. He was a self-employed painting contractor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Brenda Duran Shults of Etheridge, TN; four sons, Bobby Kathy Kelley, Dwight Linda Kelley, Mike Joyce Kelley and Randy Kelley all of Columbia, TN; a sister, Verda Mae Love of Columbia, TN; grandchildren, Terry Sandra Kelley and Connie Jimmy Taylor, Patrick Cynthia Kelley all of Mt. Pleasant, TN, Leigh Ann Chad Fletcher of Columbia, TN, David Tammy Kelley of Jenkinsburg, GA, Forrest Kelley and Jennifer Chris Worley both of Columbia; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Joe Howard Kelley; four sisters, Hattie Cates, Bessie Fly, Leslie Nellums and Gladys Cates.

Pallbearers will be Terry Kelley, Patrick Kelley, David Kelley, Forrest Kelley, Brett Kelley, Josh Kelley and Lee Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will be A.D. Gilmore, Bobby Beckum, Wayne Cates, Billy Woods, Morris Woods, David Gilmore, Ricky Gilmore, William Odom, Wilson Fly, David Fly, Harold Fly, Timmy Nellums, Herman Adair, Elmer Adair, Bobby England, Junior Haywood, Danny Lindsey, Chris Lindsey; special caregivers, Danielle Mayberry and Carrie Cantrell, members of the Swan Creek Baptist Church.
