Howard Flowers, age 86, a longtime resident of Gray Circle in Columbia, passed away Wednesday, October 18, at Sterling House.
The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4:00 ? 8:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. A private graveside service will be held later at the Moses Cemetery in Marshall County.
The Dickson County native was the son of the late Willie and Beulah Rice Flowers. He was the husband of the late Helen Ramsey Flowers who preceded him in death in March, 2001. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served during WW II in the South Pacific. He was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 32 years and was a member of the Highland Avenue Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son: Donald Betty Murphy Flowers of Columbia; one daughter: Connie Terry Heflen of Columbia; one brother: Homer Flowers of Nashville; five grandchildren: Joshua Kate Flowers of Memphis, Joel Mary Anne Flowers of Chattanooga, Adam Sarah Jane Flowers of Murfreesboro, Troy Lori Hughes of Columbia and Amy Jim Pratt of Columbia; four great-grandchildren: Faith Hughes, Tyler Hughes. Emma Pratt and Bryant Pratt, all of Columbia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son: Michael Flowers.
