Howard Eugene Boshers

Mr. Howard Eugene Boshers passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehab in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.

Howard was born in Maury County, Tennessee on May 9, 1920 and was the son of the late Eugene Boshers and the late Annie Mae Allen Boshers. He was one of nine children born to them. He served in the United States Army during WWII and was a prisoner of war in Germany for 14 months. His family is proud of his service to our nation. He was a corporal at the time of his discharge and had earned the following medals and commendations: American Defense Service Ribbon and an European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon with two bronze stars.

Mr. Boshers worked until retirement at Stauffer Chemical as a supervisor and then worked for a number of years at Columbia State Community College as a security guard.

Howard was a loving husband, having married Virginia on October 10, 1942 in Corinth, Mississippi. Sadly he passed away on their 70th wedding anniversary. His family remembers that he was a sweet but stubborn man. He loved his grandchildren fiercely, loved to go to church with his family at Allensville Baptist Church and was always a sharp dressed man after having grown up during the depression era.

Mr. Boshers loved sports with baseball being his favorite. He played catcher for the Army team while in the service. The Atlanta Braves was his all time favorite team.

In addition to his wife Mr. Boshers is survived by his children: Gloria (Logan) Hedrick and Michael (Angie) Boshers both of Mt. Pleasant; his beloved granddaughters: Denise Hedrick, Faith Boshers and Brooke Boshers, all of Mt. Pleasant; his brothers: Eugene (Bertha) Boshers, Jr., Jackie (Linda) Boshers and Steve (Carolyn) Boshers; sisters-in-law: Joan Sanders and Juanita Allen; and brother-in-law John (Joanna) Prince. In addition to his parents, Howard is preceded in death by his siblings: Kenneth Boshers, William Boshers, Mary Elizabeth King, J. W. Boshers and Donald Boshers.

Funeral services for Mr. Boshers will be conducted on Monday, October 15th at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home at 819 N. Main Street in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. David Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with the American Legion Herbert Griffin Post 19 providing military honors. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Johnny Boshers, Larry Boshers, Ben Boshers, Jason Boshers, James Prince, Todd Prince, Thomas Edwards and Ray Boshers will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Allensville Baptist Church. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Mt. Pleasant Health and Rehab who was so kind to Howard, and to a special neighbor and friend, Thomas Edwards.
