Herman Lappin, Sr., age 91, passed away August 6, 2013 in Columbia, TN.
Herman was born October 15, 1921 to parents Harmon Lappin and Novella “Aylor” Lappin in Coalmont, TN. Herman graduated from Middle Tennessee State Teachers College in Murfreesboro. He worked for Monsanto Chemical. He married his wife, late Artie “Layne” Lappin, on February 27th, 1947. He served his country during WWII in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. New Mexico. Herman was a former elder of the Phillipi Church of Christ. He loved hunting, fishing, and telling jokes to anyone who would listen, and some who wouldn’t.
Services for Herman will be Thursday, August 8th at 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN with interment to follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may visit Wednesday, August 7th from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Bro. Jeremy Butt will officiate the service.
Herman is survived by: Daughters; Judy (“late” Norman) Bowling, Brenda ( Frank) Woody, Sons; Herman Lappin, Jr., Granddaughter; Katrina Woody, Sabrina Woody, and Rebecca ( Tim) Bytwerk, Grandsons; Anthony (Ashleigh) Bowling, Jonathan Lappin, and Daniel Lappin, Great-Grandchildren; Addison Bytwerk, Rosemary Bowling, Taylor Bowling, and Memphis Bowling.
He is preceded by; Twin Brother; Thurman Lappin, Brothers; Ralph (Nell) Lappin, William Richard (Helen) Lappin, Sisters; Edna Lappin, and Iris (Jimmy) Curtis.
