Henry Thomas "Tommy" Alexander, age 66, Columbia resident, passed away on Tuesday morning at Maury Regional Medical Center. Tommy was born January 1, 1946, the first "New Year's Baby" in West Tennessee, the son of the late Henry Franklin Alexander and Ola Mae Norman Alexander. In his younger years, Tommy had enjoyed farming. Later on, he became employed in the Maintenance Dept. of Walker Die-Cast and was a bus driver for the Maury County Board of Education. Tommy and his wife, Faye, had enjoyed 45 years together.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Haskins Alexander of Columbia; his children, Connie Alexander Pruitt of Columbia, John Vicky Alexander of Culleoka and Stephanie Brent Watts of Lynnville; grandchildren, Jacob and Adam Pruitt, Amber Alexander and Jessica and Justin Watts along with his "newest baby" great-granddaughter, Kaymin Grace Stoffel. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by three sisters, Judy Alexander Fowler, Anna Mae Alexander and Bobbie Sue Alexander Odom and two brothers, Terry Garland Alexander and Sammy Alexander.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Ewing Neeley officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 4:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Walker Die-Cast and drivers for the Maury County Board of Education.
