Henry John Miller, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2015 at Life Care Center of Columbia.
Henry was born on February 12, 1928 in New Boston, Michigan, the first of six to the late Laurel Miller and Leiola Fahnestock. Henry married Pearl Roberts on March 27, 1953 and they lived in Belleville, Michigan until they retired. Henry was a construction inspector and worked for Wayne County Road Commission in Michigan until he retired. After his retirement, Henry supervised the construction of two high rise Senior Apartment projects in Michigan. Henry proudly served his country during the Korean War. In 1981, Henry and Pearl took up square dancing. They began traveling all over the U.S. in a motor home to participate in squaring dancing and participated in twenty-eight different dances. The plan was to travel to every state, but they found heaven when they went to Arizona. For the next sixteen years, Henry and Pearl spent six months out of the year in Arizona and six months in Michigan. Henry was a member of the VFW and Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Henry is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years Pearl Miller of Columbia, Tennessee; children Dave (Beth) Miller of Frederick, Michigan, Kathy Miller of West Bloomfield, Michigan, Donald Miller of Big Rapids, Michigan, Dale Miller of Kent, Ohio, and Debra (Conrad) Jager of Culleoka, Tennessee; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and siblings Laura (Tom) Wyles of Milan, Michigan, Barbara (Wallace) Nelson, and Larry (Joan) Miller of Belleville, Michigan.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents Laurel and Leiola Miller.
A memorial service will be held Thursday September 10th at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Columbia, TN, beginning at 10 am.
