Mrs. Helen Marie Clayton Cook, 100, a resident of the Pulaski Highway in Columbia, died Friday, January 9, 2004 at NHC/ Columbia Health Care.
A graveside memorial service for Mrs. Cook will be conducted at a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery. Williams Columbia Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The Cleveland, Ohio native was the daughter of the late William and Marie Jordan Clayton. She was the widow of Ralph Lewellen and Albert Cook. She was a retired secretary for Harland Electric Company in Detroit, Michigan. She was a former long-time resident of Akron, Ohio where she was secretary for B.F. Goodrich for many years. She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia. She was an avid reader and walker.
She is survived by three daughters, Marilyn Copen of Barberton, OH, Patricia Ralph Owens of Columbia, TN, and Ruth Ann Everett Dix of Portland, OR; a son, Richard Lewellen of Peck, MI; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
