Helen Loraine Mayfield

Mrs. Helen Loraine Grice Mayfield, 95, a resident of Hampshire Pike Apts. and former longtime resident of Eureka, IL passed away on Monday, January 14, 2008, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mayfield will be conducted Thursday, January17, at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Columbia with Reverend Jeff Jacob, Reverend Melinda Britt and Reverend Gordon Barrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, IL.

The family will visit with friends Wednesday from. 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.

The Gagetown, Michigan native was the daughter of the late George Grice and Mary Grice. She was the widow of Reverend Paul Mayfield. Mrs. Mayfield was a homemaker, song evangelist and was involved with her husband for many years in the Nazarene Ministry. She was a member and former organist for the First Church of the Nazarene in Eureka, IL.

She is survived by her children: Shirley Paul Studebaker of Columbia, TN and Paul Judy Mayfield of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren: Donald Studebaker of Tahlequah, OK, Kenneth Jane Studebaker of Congerville, IL, Thomas Tammy Studebaker of Columbia, TN, Susan Von Behren, Kathy George Pelakanos and Angela Mayfield all of St. Louis, MO; a niece: Joyce Wallace of Alpena, MI; 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three sisters.


Pallbearers will be Andrew Studebaker, Ben Studebaker, Daniel Studebaker, Luke Quanstrom, Mark Barrick and Tom Studebaker.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Fellowship Class of the First United Methodist Church of Columbia.

A special thanks to Dr. Rand Hayes, Dr. David Oxley, ICU Step Down at Maury Regional Hospital, Lydia at the Hampshire House Apartments and staff and members of the First United Methodist Church in Columbia.
