Helen Louise Hall Knowles, age 90 and a resident of First Avenue in Mt. Pleasant, passed away at her residence Thursday, November 13, 2014 following an extended illness.
Helen was born on November 15, 1923 in Mt. Pleasant to the late Robert D. Hall and the late Nannie Frances Boshears Hall. Helen was the wife of Ernest W. Knowles for sixty years, who passed away in 2003. She was a member of the Church of Christ faith.
Helen was a wonderful homemaker, a skilled seamstress, and an avid quilter. She had many interests but her main joy came from family and friends who visited her home every Saturday morning for coffee and to share their lives with her and each other.
The family will visit with friends on Sunday, November 16, 2014 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 16, 2014 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Vernon Brooks will officiate the service with presentations by John Travis Hamilton and Zachary Knowles. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mike Knowles, Zachary Knowles, John Travis Hamilton, Bobby Nolen, Robert Perry Hall, and Thomas N. Edwards. Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas W. Burns, Steve Jones, and Jim Hamilton.
Helen leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Sandra K. (Douglas) Burns and Teri K. (Bobby) Nolen; son, Gary M. Knowles; grandchildren, Michael (Christina) Knowles and Beth Marie Burns (Jim) Hamilton; great grandchildren, John Travis Hamilton and Zachary Michael Knowles; sisters-in-law, Mary Sue Hall and Thelma Rush; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; special family member, Janice Carol Jones; family friend and physician, Dr. Reams Powers. She was preceded in death by two precious sons, Thomas R. Knowles and Edwin D. Knowles; and brother, Robert English Hall.
